Hello, dear friends
The epilogue is posted! The first draft is finally done. What started over a year ago as a percocet-fueled fever dream (which was a perfectly legit wisdom teeth related use of pharmaceuticals, by the way) has finally come to an end. Though, not really to an end. As many of you will soon find out, this novel doesn’t quite have the closure one might expect. That’s because this story ballooned on me.
A few months ago, as I was mapping out the direction of my various characters, their motivations, etc, I realized that I had more than one book on my hands. So, here’s my announcement for what you can expect in the new year here at Mr-Andy.com: I’ll be serializing the second volume of All the Night a Song, which I’m tentatively naming The Lonely Ember. At this point I’m not anticipating the storyline to be a trilogy; just two volumes that might symbolize a bit of the duality between my two main characters, Romaigne and Willamette.
Some might wonder what’s in store for ATNAS during the revision process I’m soon to embark upon. Quite a lot, actually. I’m planning a few major changes early on in the book to better establish some of the events that occur later in the book. There’s also the typical continuity issues that need to be addressed, character motivation, and just a good ol’ line-by-line polish. The biggest addition will be the inclusion of what I’m calling “Conductor’s Notes” threaded throughout the storyline, which I hope will help to expand the mythology of the world I’ve created.
So, in sum, the last year has been quite a ride. I want to thank you all for reading along, and for your support, suggestions, and kind words. Immediately after the revision (and some feedback from beta readers) I’m planning on putting ATNAS out on the market for agents/editors. I’m sure you’ll get an ear-full from me about that harrowing process in the coming months!
So, as always, Happy Reading, and Happier Writing
Andy
